Brazil’s automobile production increased by 10.9% year-on-year in September this year

According to data released by the Brazilian Automobile Manufacturers Association (Anfavea) on the 7th local time, in September this year, Brazil’s automobile production was 247,300 units, a decrease of 8.3% from the previous month and an increase of 10.9%.

    Data show that in September, the production of Brazilian cars and light vehicles was 234,500 units, a decrease of 8.5% from the previous month and an increase of 10.8% from the same period last year. Truck production was 10,400 units, a decrease of 3% from the previous month and an increase of 14.2% year-on-year. The production of buses was 2,413 units, a decrease of 9.5% from the previous month and an increase of 7.2% year-on-year.

    In the first nine months of this year, Brazil’s automobile production totaled 2,258,300 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.9%. Among them, the production of Brazilian cars and light vehicles was 2,149,100 units, a year-on-year increase of 2.6%. Truck production was 87,400 units, an increase of 13.2% year-on-year. The production of buses was 21,700 units, down 5.5% year-on-year.

    In terms of employment, in September, the number of employed people in the Brazilian auto industry was 127,900, a decrease of 0.2% from the previous month and a decrease of 3.4% from the same period last year.

    In terms of exports, in September, Brazil exported 36,600 vehicles, down 0.2% from the previous month and down 7.1% from the same period last year. In the first nine months of this year, Brazil’s auto exports totaled 337,000 units, down 35.6% year-on-year.

    According to industry insiders, due to the continued economic crisis in neighboring Argentina, Brazil’s auto exports have shrunk sharply this year, which has a major impact on the Brazilian automobile manufacturing industry. In view of this, the Brazilian Automobile Manufacturers Association lowered the Brazilian car growth forecast this year. It is expected that Brazil’s car production this year will increase by 2.1%, which is lower than the expected growth of 9% at the beginning of the year. Automobile exports are expected to fall by 33.2% for the whole year, which is much larger than the expected decline of 6.2% at the beginning of the year.
