Brake lights are defective or can’t start. Subaru recalls 2.26 million cars worldwide

[Global Network Report Reporter Wang Huan] According to “Nihon Keizai Shimbun” reported on February 28, Subaru announced on February 28 that it will recall 2.268 million vehicles worldwide. The number of recalls hit a record high in the company. Two models, such as the SUV, found that the brake light defect may cause the engine to fail to start. The recall is expected to generate approximately 10 billion yen in related expenses in FY 2018 (as of March 2019), but the company said it will absorb it through measures such as cost reduction and will not adjust its performance expectations for this fiscal year.

The target of the recall is the SUV “Forest Man” and the small car “Wing Leopard”. Specifically, it includes a total of 306,700 vehicles produced in Japan from September 2008 to March 2017, and 1,962,100 vehicles from North America and overseas. Subaru applied for a recall to the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on February 28, and will apply overseas in the future.
Normally, the brake pedal is depressed, the brake light is switched, and the engine is started. It is said that this switch is defective, the engine cannot be started, and the vehicle is difficult to start.
