GM is currently reorganizing its operations, including closing factories and cutting thousands of jobs to increase its profitability after US car sales decline. GM said that the Hamm Chuk plant will continue to produce Chevrolet Impala and Cadillac CT6 sedan until early next year.

The company is currently balancing production time and will continue to offer Cadillac advanced technology for the CT6-V, the Blackwing Twin Turbo V-8 engine and the Super Cruise driver assistance system.

The plant has stopped production of the Buick LaCrosse sedan and the Chevrolet Volanda plug-in hybrid car. Gary Jones, chairman of the Detroit-based United Auto Workers Federation, said GM decided to continue production at the plant, which is good news for workers and their families. The Federation commended GM’s decision and reiterated the importance of collective discussion in such an era.
