[Global Network Comprehensive Report] According to the US media report on April 4, Tesla announced the launch of its latest driver assistance system version Navigate on Autopilot, adding automatic lane change function. The vehicle can automatically complete the lane change without the driver confirming the operation through the input of the vehicle steering signal lever.
Tesla said that since the release of the Navigate on Autopilot system, car owners have traveled more than 66 million miles. During this time, the Navigate on Autopilot feature has successfully completed more than 9 million proposed lane changes.
In the new system, the owner must enable the new “seamless” feature with custom settings. If the driver selects “No” in the “Require Lane Change Confirmation”, the car will automatically change the lane without having to obtain the driver’s confirmation before the lane change.
The driver can receive notifications about the upcoming lane change by receiving a ringtone or a default visual reminder, or he can choose to have the steering wheel vibrate to obtain an alarm.
The company warned: “This feature does not automate the vehicle. The system only changes lanes when the driver’s hand is detected on the steering wheel. Before the real driverless car is verified and approved by the regulatory authorities, the driver The control of the vehicle must be maintained throughout the journey.”
