Tesla’s V3 super-charged piles feature a new architecture with a single car charging up to 250kW. Tesla said that the faster charging rate can reduce the car’s charging time by half, and it is expected that each car will be fully charged in just 15 minutes.

Tesla has also developed new features for Model 3 to reduce the number of charges. The Model 3′s On-Route charging system begins to warm up the battery as it travels to the super-charged pile, ensuring optimal charging temperatures on arrival.

The V3 Super Charging Pile currently only supports the Model 3 model. Tesla said it will upgrade its software in the near future to increase the charging rate of the Model S and Model X models. The Model Y, which will be released next week, may also be suitable for this system, as most of the parts of the model are identical to the Model 3.

Tesla will conduct the first public test of the V3 charging pile near the California headquarters in the near future. It will be installed throughout the United States in April and enter the Eurasian region in the fourth quarter of this year.

Tesla currently has more than 12,000 supercharged piles throughout North America. The company said it plans to cover 99% of Europe in 2019.
