Xinhua News Agency, Berlin, April 14 (Mao Jing) According to the German “Sunday Photo” reported on the 14th, the German luxury car brand Mercedes-Benz parent company Daimler Group was suspected of using software fraud to allow its tens of thousands of cars to pass the exhaust gas detection. Once again, it was investigated by the German Automobile Industry Regulatory Agency.
According to the report, the problem car is the diesel version of the Mercedes-Benz GLK220CDI sport utility vehicle from 2012 to 2015. The German Federal Automobile Transport Bureau discovered in 2018 that the car’s diesel engine was suspected of software fraud and immediately launched an investigation.
A spokesman for the Daimler Group confirmed on the same day that the German Federal Automobile Transport Bureau had started a dialogue with Daimler a few months ago and held a hearing.
The German auto industry “emissions gate” scandal broke out in 2015. Starting from the Volkswagen Group, BMW and Daimler have been verified to adjust the working state of the diesel engine through software, so that the nitrogen oxide emissions can reach the standard under the exhaust gas detection state, so as to cover up the truth that the engine discharges greatly exceeds the standard under normal driving conditions.
In addition, the European Commission announced earlier this month that the investigation confirmed that Daimler, Volkswagen and BMW had illegally monopolized diesel engine clean emission technologies between 2006 and 2014, in violation of EU anti-monopoly regulations.
