The world’s first! Oslo will promote electric taxi inductive charging system

1

According to a report by Reuters on March 21, the Norwegian capital Oslo will become the first city in the world to install a wireless charging system for electric taxis. This is aimed at improving taxi charging efficiency and speeding up pollution-free taxis. Popularity.

The City of Oslo will work with Finnish utility company Fortum and US wireless charging technology company Momentum Dynamics. The project will use induction technology to install a charging pad on the road of the taxi station and connect it to the receiver mounted on the car. Fortum said that the biggest obstacle to taxi electrification so far is infrastructure, because taxis need to find charging piles and wait in line, a process that takes a long time.

Inductive charging is more energy efficient, and taxis can be recharged while in the queue. Ole Gudbrann Hempel, head of the company’s Norwegian public charging network, said: “When a taxi driver works, time equals money.”

Norway is the country with the largest number of electric vehicles per capita in the world. Almost one-third of the new cars sold last year were electric. The Norwegian government said that from 2023, all taxis in Oslo must achieve zero emissions, and it is hoped that by 2025 all new cars will reach zero emissions. Britain and France plan to achieve this goal by 2040.
