[Global Network Comprehensive Report] According to the US media report on February 13, BMW’s plant in Spartanburg, South Carolina, will begin production of the X3M and X4M high-performance SUVs. The move shows that BMW will continue to increase production in the only US plant this year and is expected to approach peak capacity.
It is reported that BMW started production of the X7 SUV in the United States in December last year, and there are seven other models in the plant. The production of these models means that the production capacity of the Baomaspattan plant is likely to increase to the highest level reached in 2016.
Knudt Flor, president and CEO of BMW, said that the addition of these two new models further underscores BMW’s commitment in the United States. The factory currently has 11,000 employees.
In 2018, BMW produced 356,749 vehicles in the United States, and this year’s production is expected to exceed 400,000. BMW’s sales in the US increased by 1.7% in 2018.
