[Global Network Comprehensive Report] According to the Associated Press reported on April 20, as consumers gradually turned to SUV and truck models, demand for cars slowed down. Honda announced that it will temporarily close the second production line of the Marysville assembly plant in Ohio from August this year. The resumption of production has not yet been announced, and this year is unlikely.
Honda said that the temporary production line is mainly for the production of Honda Accord models, with an annual output of about 55,000. At the same time, a small portion of the production of the Honda CR-V small SUV will be transferred from the Marysville assembly plant to Greensburg, Indiana. The Civic, a compact car originally produced in Greensburg, will be reduced.
The above production cuts also have an impact on the production of Honda’s Ohio engine manufacturing plant and transmission plant.
In addition, a Honda spokesperson said that although the company will not lay off employees, it has implemented a voluntary separation plan for some employees.
