e.GO Mobile said in a statement that it will use Volkswagen’s MEB production system to bring electric vehicles to the market to further enrich the Volkswagen electric models, but the specific models have yet to be decided by both parties.

E.GO Mobile previously helped the postal service group Deutsche Post’s subsidiary to develop a delivery truck. In other projects, e.GO also plans to bring electric minibuses to the market through a joint venture with German auto supplier ZF.

In an interview in January, Michael Jost, head of mass brand strategy, said that Volkswagen is in deep negotiations with a number of companies to open a modular electric vehicle production platform to competitors. The platform will standardize as many different models as possible to seek the cost advantage of mass production. Volkswagen said in a statement on the eve of the Geneva Motor Show that it plans to invest 30 billion euros (about 227.73 billion yuan) for electric vehicles by 2023. Its electric vehicle investment budget exceeds its competitors to achieve mass production of electric vehicles.
