American Automobile Association: New safety system doubles vehicle maintenance costs

[Global Network Comprehensive Report] In the entire automotive industry, more advanced new security systems are slowly becoming more and more common. According to the US Automotive News, the latest research by the American Automobile Association (AAA) shows that even a small accident involving a new advanced safety system can double the maintenance cost of a safety system.

According to a AAA study, the cost of repairing systems such as automatic emergency braking systems, lane departure warning systems, and blind spot monitoring systems after a minor collision may be twice the cost of the previous repair system.

AAA says factors such as sensor type and location, vehicle production and model size can affect maintenance costs. In this regard, AAA conducted a research evaluation on a 2018 Nissan Rogue, a 2018 Toyota Camry and a 2018 Ford F-150. Studies have shown that vehicles with new safety systems can cost up to $5,300 in the event of a minor frontal collision or rear-end collision, more than twice as many as a car without the system. The rear radar sensor that connects the blind spot monitoring and the reversing side blind spot monitoring system typically costs between $850 and $2050, and the cost of the front radar sensor is between $900 and $1,300. The front and rear ultrasonic sensors used with the auxiliary parking system, after minor damage, are also costing between $500 and $1,300.

AAA Michigan spokeswoman Nancy Cain said in a statement: “Today, advanced security systems are more common, many of which are standard configurations or even basic models. The important thing is that drivers need to be clear about themselves. What kind of technology is used in the car and what kind of performance is there, and it is clear that if an accident occurs, the approximate maintenance cost.
