[Global Network Comprehensive Report] According to the US “Automotive News” reported on February 8, recently, German automotive supplier Robert Bosch Co., Ltd. is accepting the investigation of the Stuttgart prosecution. In 2018, the German prosecutors imposed a fine of 1 billion euros (about 7.6 billion yuan) on Volkswagen and its sister brand Audi, because their management negligence led to pollution of vehicles on the road. So far, Volkswagen has paid more than 27 billion euros (about 206.2 billion yuan) due to the use of illegal software to cover the excessive pollution of diesel vehicles. This triggered a global regulatory rectification campaign, and Bosch was not spared.
A spokesperson for the company said in a statement: “The Stuttgart prosecution has conducted a fine investigation of Bosch. The investigation involved Bosch employees and their use of controlled software in the control of diesel vehicles.”
Germany’s “Der Spiegel” reported that Volkswagen is considering whether to seek compensation of up to 1 billion euros from Bosch. But in this report, Volkswagen declined to comment.
Bosch said: “Our relationship with our customers is confidential. For decades, Bosch and Volkswagen have maintained a good relationship between automakers and suppliers. We cannot imagine that Volkswagen will take such action against Bosch.”
