BYD launches new European electric bus in Germany

On Wednesday, BYD launched two new electric buses built by its European factories at the IAA in Hannover, Germany, with a view to further expanding the local market.
Of the two electric buses, the 12-meter-long is produced at its Hungarian factory, while the 18-meter-long is manufactured at a French factory. The Hungarian factory started production in April 2017, and the French plant will be officially put into production within one month.
According to BYD, the two electric buses are modular in design. The whole vehicle is divided into six modules, such as chassis, top, front, rear and side. The types and quantity of parts are significantly reduced, and the reliability and after-sales of the products. Maintenance efficiency has improved significantly.
The two buses are powered by BYD’s proprietary iron phosphate battery and battery thermal management system.
BYD said that the two electric buses use parts from many major European suppliers.
Since its listing in Europe in 2010, BYD has sold more than 600 electric buses in the country. Globally, its electric bus sales have now exceeded 35,000.
BYD also assembles electric buses in California, Scotland and Brazil. In China, it also produces gasoline and electric passenger cars.
