Catering to market trends Toyota plans to cut production in the United States

[Global Network Comprehensive Report] According to Bloomberg News, Toyota decided to adjust production and reduce the production capacity of Toyota Camry cars in view of the SUV sales boom.

According to the report, Camry’s sales have declined slightly year-on-year. Toyota will slow down a Camry line at its Kentucky plant in the US to respond to changing industry demands. The specific production reduction target of the plant is still unclear.
Toyota spokesman Rick Hesterberg said: “The automotive industry is cyclical. We are making regular adjustments, that is, taking the initiative to adjust the production plan a few months in advance.” .
Camry was previously the best-selling model of Toyota in the United States, but its sales in November fell by 6.1% year-on-year to 289,801 units, while the SUV model Rav4 sold 353,151 units, making it the best-selling model in the United States.
In addition, Toyota seems to be considering expanding the Camry model, such as adding TRD to increase the appeal of the car. The TRD models feature a more “aggressive” body kit, including a new style of front lip, side skirts and rear spoiler. Additional chassis support and low suspension provide a more sporty driving experience. A red tone is added to the brake caliper while a set of black 19-inch wheels is used. The seat belt, shift knob and internal floor mat are decorated with a deep red color, and the headrest pillow is embroidered with the TRD logo. The TRD also continues to be equipped with a 3.5-liter V6 engine that delivers 301 horsepower, but comes with a new cat-back exhaust.
Toyota executives said they might “cut off” some models when necessary. Although the Camry is unlikely to face this terrible fate, it shows that automakers understand that customers’ car demand is changing. Given that customers seem to like compact crossovers, there is little interest in small cars. The most likely future in the “Chopping Board” is Toyota’s small car Yaris.
