Mercedes-Benz target becomes a mass-produced automaker

According to a Reuters news report, Mercedes-Benz executive Christoph Schroeder said in an interview with the German newspaper Le Monde that Mercedes-Benz’s goal is not to be the first to develop autonomous vehicles. Manufacturers, but want to be one of the first two manufacturers to apply autonomous technology to large-scale applications.

At present, Uber, Google, GM, Volkswagen and other automakers and technology companies are preparing to launch a self-driving taxi service to enter the online car market. Currently, Waymo, owned by Google, has the longest test miles. Competitors such as the Volkswagen Group also acknowledge that Waymo is ahead of other competitors in developing autopilot prototypes. However, Mercedes-Benz did not worry about Waymo taking the lead.

Schroeder told Le Monde that Mercedes-Benz needs to be among the top two in the world, expanding the scale of autonomous driving technology and putting it into production cars.
