In a statement, Ford said that valve defects could result in fuel levels being inaccurate, engine failure, or “unable to restart the vehicle”, increasing the risk of a crash. The statement said: “These vehicles are equipped with a purge control valve that may get stuck in the open position. If this happens, excessive vacuum in the fuel system may cause deformation of the plastic fuel tank of the car, so consumers can see Fluctuations in the fault indicator or fuel gauge or fuel level are not accurate. According to Ford, the recall includes 136,272 in Canada and 44,521 in Mexico.

The annual report said that the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) contacted Ford, saying that the 2012 Fox was suspected of “losing power.” The report said: “On August 28th and September 19th, we continued discussions with NHTSA to discuss an overview of the operation of the Fox fuel system and a review of Ford data.”

Last week, Ford’s on-site review committee reviewed the issue and began operations, and TI, the global fuel system supplier, was listed as a supplier of defective parts. The statement said that Ford did not receive any incident reports related to defective parts, but advised the owner to not use up the oil before the vehicle was sent for repair, at least half a can of gasoline.

Ford said that in order to correct this problem, Ford and Lincoln dealers will reprogram the powertrain control module, check the fault code, and replace the valve if necessary. If the valve is replaced, the dealer will also check and replace the activated carbon canister, fuel tank and fuel delivery module if needed.
