Tesla is now turning its attention to the European market. Tesla Model 3 is expected to complete its first delivery in Europe in February and March this year, and UK customers expect to receive new cars by mid-2019. In fact, as early as December of 2018, Tesla brought its Model 3 to London and Manchester for display, which attracted the enthusiasm of many consumers.
As Tesla Motors’ tax credits in the United States gradually diminished, the company began to enter the European market. In contrast, many European countries, including the UK, are still offering thousands of pounds of discounts to consumers who buy electric cars. With the disappearance of US tax incentives, the US population’s demand for electric vehicles may slow down, and entering the European market is expected to fill the gap, Tesla CEO Elon Musk said.
Musk also said: “Given the medium-sized luxury sedan market in these regions is larger than the North American market, we are very pleased to be able to push the Model 3 to Europe and China in early 2019.” Model 3′s base price in the US is $35,000. (About RMB 240,000), and the price in Europe has not yet been officially confirmed, but Model 3 is expected to compete in the fierce market with luxury cars such as BMW 3 Series, Audi A4 and Jaguar XE.
Tesla currently sells Model S and Model X models in the UK. The company has built a network of supercharge stations across the UK, allowing owners to charge their car batteries in about 50% in 20 minutes or 80% in 40 minutes.
Tesla’s entry-level 75D Model S is priced at approximately £71,000 (approximately RMB 620,000) and has a maximum cruising range of 304 miles (approximately 489 km), but this will vary depending on driving conditions. At a driving speed of 113km/h, the cruising range is approximately 402 kilometers. Tesla says the Model 3 has a cruising range of 220 to 310 miles (equivalent to 354 to 499 kilometers).
